10 tips for winter beauties
1. Moisturiser first, then oil. Start with a moisturising lip balm before you apply an oil-based cream or balm. This will help protect your lips from moisture loss caused by the cold.
2. A silk scarf for your hair. To prevent breakage and frizz, wrap a silk scarf around your hair before you put on a woolly scarf.
3. Improve your indoor climate. Place a bowl of water next to a radiator to boost the humidity in the room and prevent your skin from drying out.
4. Mask up at night. Use nourishing sleep masks for your face, hands and feet to maximise their restorative powers overnight. Wearing cotton gloves or socks will enhance the effect.
5. Remember to wear sunscreen. Use a mineral sunscreen, especially where there’s snow, as UV rays are stronger when they’re reflected.
6. Dry brushing helps banish the winter blues. Gentle dry brushing stimulates the circulation and buffs away dead skin cells.
7. Avoid hot showers. Hot showers dry out your skin and hair. It’s better to use lukewarm water and then apply body oil or cream while your skin is still damp.
8. Pimp your foundation with skin care. Mix a few drops of facial oil into your foundation to prevent dry patches and create a fresh glow.
9. Remember to use hand cream. Low temperatures and washing your hands frequently will dry out your skin and can cause it to crack.
10. Apply fragrance over a hydrating base. Perfume works best on hydrated skin. Try wearing it over a neutral-scented body lotion or complementary body oil. The moisture helps the scent adhere to your skin, making it last longer.
