A variety of perfume centers
Since the 19th century, the French town of Grasse on the Côte d’Azur has been considered the perfume capital of the world. On the other hand, Leipzig and Holzminden, Lower Saxony, have become prominent fragrance centres in Germany. However, the focus of our interest is on your individual “fragrance discovery”. The world of fragrances is not just defined by perfumes and Eau de Toilettes alone. Consequently, our women’s and men’s fragrances include complete cosmetics ranges from fragrances lines, comprising various skin care products, soaps, body lotions, and aftershaves. So, you can make your own body into your own personal fragrance centre with great-smelling skin care products! Exquisite cosmetics also highlight your natural appeal and, with the right make-up, for example, skilfully place it centre stage.
Perfume – then and now: balancing act between tradition and modernity
The history of perfume can be traced back more than 5,000 years, when the ancient Egyptians burnt scents such as resins and plant essences to worship their gods and for inspiration. It is these fragrant beginnings that also explain the origin of the word “perfume” (“per fumum”, meaning “through smoke”). But it was only many hundreds of years later, in the 18th century, that perfume began to conquer the Western world, Europe, and Germany in its current form. Largely responsible for this triumph was the Italian perfumer living in Cologne, Johann Maria Farina, who created “Eau de Cologne” in this city. This fine fragrance, which is today one of the oldest perfumes still produced using the same recipe, became the most popular Eau de Toilette among the wealthy population of the time; the royal and imperial courts of Europe scrambled to get it. Farina’s perfumery, called “Johann Maria Farina gegenüber dem Jülichs-Platz”, is thus the first and oldest perfumery in the world. It is now run by the 8th generation of the Farina perfume dynasty from the same premises, which are now home to the Cologne France Museum too. Now, in the 21st century, the world of fragrances and perfumes is characterized by a simply endless variety of brands and perfumers and of fragrance notes, essences, and compositions, whose heart, top, and base notes interact to release unique aromas and scents. Today, firms rich in tradition, such as the Farina perfumery, are not just joined by young, creative perfumeries but also by online perfumeries like ours, where fragrance lovers can buy precious fragrances essences and sumptuous perfumes cheaply online.
Quick tips on how to apply perfume correctly
To get as much pleasure as possible out of the “right” fragrance, please take heed of the following tips: Every fragrance develops differently on the skin from person to person. Factors such as skin condition, skin moisture, or body temperature affect the release of the fragrance. The perfume develops in the most effective and long-lasting way on parts of the body that have good blood supply, so the wrists and throat – here, constant evaporation of the substances of the fragrance is guaranteed. Therefore, perfume should never be rubbed in, as this accelerates the evaporation process unnecessarily. So that a perfume doesn’t “go off”, i.e. turn bad or rancid, store the flaçon in a dark, cool, and dry place. The fridge is not an ideal storage place, however, as excessive cold damages the ingredients too. It is said that all the fragrances in the world become meaningless once you have found that one fragrance. Our online perfumery Parfumdreams endeavours to help you achieve this and buy the right fragrance conveniently online. If you observe the tips of storage and application, it no longer matters whether you are in Egypt, Germany, or France: your fragrance remains your fragrance, you wear it and it expresses your personality, so nothing stands in the way of you having a stylish presence!
