It’s gonna be colourful! – Learn more about Pride Month and get inspired for your CSD make-up look.

June is Pride Month, a month in which the LGBTQIA+ communities from around the world come together to celebrate diversity in society. At the same time, Pride Month serves to flag up the injustices that still exist and to fight for more equal rights.

We at parfumdreams want to make a clear statement about diversity, self-expression and acceptance – regardless of our gender, origins, skin colour or sexual orientation. Every person must have the freedom to choose to love who they want and to develop themselves as individuals. Together with you, we build respect, tolerance, freedom and love.

Why we should celebrate – The meaning of Pride Month

Every year in June, we celebrate Pride Month to honour the people who took part in the Stonewall Riots in 1969. The Stonewall uprising, above all the demonstration in the gay bar “Stonewall Inn” in Christopher Street, was a turning point for the LGBTQIA+ movement. A year after the Stonewall Riots, the first Gay Pride March took place in the US. So up until today, most Pride parades and festivals take place in June all over the world. The streets are decked with rainbow flags and bunting. Today, Pride Month is about honouring the LGBTQIA+ community, gaining recognition and raising consciousness with regard to equal rights.

Olfactory diversity – Fitting fragrances for Pride

Particularly during Pride Month, which stands for diversity and acceptance, our scent can play an important role. We can use a fragrance to accentuate our personality and express our strengths.
Our fragrance recommendations, “This is Her”, “This is Him” and “This is Us” by Zadig & Voltaire, partner well with Pride Month. “This is Her” combines sweet and spicy notes, while “This is Him” blends woody and spicy aromas. “This is us” is a unisex fragrance with a unique blend of spicy pepper, creamy vanilla and woody accents, symbolising unity and equality between all genders.
These fragrances by Zadig & Voltaire are more than just perfumes – they are a way to show who we are and what we stand for.

Beyond the rainbow: What’s behind LGBTQIA+?

The abbreviation LGBTQIA+ stands for different gender identities or sexual orientations. The individual letters mean: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer, intersexual and asexual people. The + stands for the representation of sexual orientations and gender identities which are not expressly included in the name. Such as pansexuality for example.

Don’t ever be afraid to show off your true colours

Full of colour and love – Pride Month celebrations

In many towns and regions, parades and events take place to raise consciousness about the LGBTQIA+ community. Grab a rainbow, bi, lesbian, pan or other Pride flag of your choice and join in the event. In addition, you can be as creative as you like and make a colourful statement with your make-up. You don’t have to identify as LGBTQIA+ to join in a Pride event. Everyone is welcome to show support for equal treatment for everyone. As an ally, you can visit events and celebrate with friends, listen and learn or volunteer with a group.

Our conclusion: We are all human and we should be respected for who we are. Whether you are gay, lesbian or bisexual, whether you feel as if you are in the wrong body or belong to no clear sex, no one should be insulted or discriminated against because of how they self-identify. So don’t be afraid to say who you are. 🤍
